ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Title: Administrative Assistant
Reports to: Executive Director
Salary Range: $18,000 – 25,000
Status: Half-time
Location: Washington, DC
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Administrative Assistant will work under the general direction of the Executive Director and in cooperation with other NPPC staff to provide administrative support necessary for the smooth operation of NPPC activities. This is a new position that demands a high level of responsibility, organizational ability and previous administrative experience. Duties and responsibilities include:

Accounts receivable, payable and payroll including coordinating materials for the accountant and payroll specialist

Maintain all organization files and lists including administrative, research and organizing materials.

Create and maintain databases of state coalition members, consultants and national partners

Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and NPPC staff

Provide staff support to the Board of Directors including coordinating meetings, preparing meeting packets and taking and preparing meeting minutes.

Coordinate all scheduling and travel for NPPC staff

Answer phones

Coordinate the development of an organizational website and maintain site content upon development.
QUALIFICATONS

Graduation from high school, associates/bachelor’s degree preferred

Previous administrative experience with demonstrated increased responsibility

Ability to manage administrative functions in a union or nonprofit environment, previous unions and/or non-profit work preferred

Demonstrated ability with administrative correspondence, attention to detail and extensive knowledge of proper English grammar, spelling, composition and punctuation.

Demonstrated ability to use a variety of computer programs, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote) and basic website maintenance.

Ability to organize schedules, prioritize work, manage time effectively and follow through to ensure commitments are met.

Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Friendly, service-oriented attitude and demeanor, professional appearance

Ability to work effectively with people as a member of a team.

Commitment to personal and organizational ethics and values.
COMPENSATION
-
21-hour workweek, excellent benefits, $18,000-$25,000 DOE.
