STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS SUMMER INTERNS

LIUNA, North America’s most progressive and aggressive construction worker and public service union, is seeking energetic and committed interns to assist in strategic communications efforts that improve the lives of working people.

Responsibilities and Opportunities

• Prepare drafts of fact sheets, news advisories, email action alerts, and other outreach material
  
• Help with rudimentary research for political and organizing efforts
  
• Assist in daily search for news clips on key issues and long-term development of media library
  
• Help with website updates for various campaign sites
  
• Opportunity for input and exposure to various strategic communications projects

Requirements

• Exceptional listening, oral and written communications skills
  
• Basic research skills
  
• Ability to work as part of a team, and to take initiative, in coordination with others, to reach goals
  
• Deep-rooted commitment to fairness and justice for working people
  
• Energy and enthusiasm

Preferred

• Familiarity with progressive issues and/or unions.

There is some flexibility in responsibilities and opportunities to help with qualification for academic credit.
