Director of Finance and Administration, Clean Economy Development Center

The Clean Economy Development Center is a new initiative that combines the assets of labor, entrepreneurs, investors and environmental organizations in building an integrated strategic platform to catalyze business development and create good, green jobs. In recent projects, the Center has partnered with the Clean Economy Network, Laborers International Union, Sierra Club, Partnership for Working Families, Green for All, Center for American Progress, Blue-Green Alliance, Apollo Alliance and others in executing economic development events in target markets across the country.

The Director of Finance and Administration will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Clean Economy Development Center, including organizational finances, internal operations, management of administrative personnel and human resources. The Director of Finance and Administration will be a member of the management team and will report to the Center’s Executive Director. The Center seeks a Director of Finance and Administration who is flexible, creative and eager to contribute where needed to help build and insure the success of this new organization.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and manage the center’s human resources, to include administering biweekly payroll, salary and benefits systems, employee relations, adherence to federal, state and city employment regulations.
  • Develop and implement organizational personnel policies and systems.
  • Prepare regular financial planning reports, conduct analysis and develop recommendations.
  • Daily management of accounts payable, receivables, and travel and reimbursement systems expenses.
  • Oversee internal accounting, cash flow, audits and proper filing of tax returns.
  • Manage organization’s office operations, physical infrastructure, and system maintenance (including technology, phone system, supplies, etc.)
  • Maintain technology systems and manage relationship with technology support providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage relationship with contractors and vendors.
  • Manage administrative personnel.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years management experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Experience with Quickbooks and ADP payroll system preferred.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies for new organization.
  • Demonstrated success leading financial oversight and budgetary tracking.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, effective team work and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice.
  • Self-starter; able to work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task with attention to detail and timeliness.
  • BA required. An MBA or CPA is preferred, as is non-profit experience.
