Opportunity:
DIRECTOR,
CAMPAIGN COMMUNICATIONS
Change to Win, a
federation of 7 of North America's fastest growing and most diverse
labor unions, is seeking a Campaign Communications Director
to develop and direct the communications strategy for a national union
campaign. Qualified candidates will have a combination of experience
in communicating through print and electronic media, radio, video, direct
mail, web site and e-advocacy, and other means.

Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan
and direct communications strategies, timelines and tactics for campaign:
- Develop, plan
and implement communications strategy and message framework for specific
target audiences to support campaign;
- Implement earned-media
outreach including pitching stories and handling incoming media requests;
write press advisories, releases and backgrounders; set up and staff
press events as well as preparing workers, leaders and allies as spokespersons;
- Direct and implement
paid media efforts;
- Plan, direct
and implement communications strategy involving video production,
web site and e-advocacy;
- Write and design
leaflets, brochures, fact sheets, op-eds, talking points, speeches,
paid ads and other materials;
- Design opinion
research program; oversee the work of opinion research consultants.
Qualifications:
- BA degree or
higher and at least 5 plus years of experience in public relations
and media outreach with labor, political, environmental or other social
justice advocacy campaigns.
- Excellent written
and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to frame
issues for specific audiences and develop simple and effective advocacy
materials.
- Must have experience
in paid and earned media (both print and electronic), video production
and e-advocacy.
- Proven track
record of strategizing and implementing plans in the context of a
campaign; demonstrated experience in generating positive media coverage.
- Ability to take
initiative, to work with a team, and to handle multiple projects and
tight deadlines.
- Excellent judgement,
organizational ability, political savvy.
- Must be a team
player with ability to show grace under pressure.
- Willingness to
travel.
- Commitment to
social justice and labor unions.
