ORGANIZING FELLOWSHIP

Philadelphia, Denver, St. Louis, Milwaukee, St. Paul, St. Louis, Riverside CA, DC/Baltimore, Columbus and Cincinnati

Change to Win, a coalition of unions on the forefront of the fight for low-wage and immigrant workers, is looking for organizers to be part of an innovative project to mobilize workers in Philadelphia, Denver, St. Paul, Milwaukee, Riverside California, DC/Baltimore area, Columbus and Cincinnati.   Change to Win is offering a 6 month paid Organizing Fellowship to activists dedicated to fighting for justice and organizing the unorganized. Change to Win is engaging in a campaign to lift American workers in a way we have never seen before, seeking to mobilize workers across industries in entire cities to call for the change we need: a right to a union at work, a right to a decent wage and a right to health care.

Organizing Fellows will work at the grassroots level to mobilize low-wage workers, build community support, conduct important field research, and develop organizing tactics & strategy.  The Organizing Fellowship is a 6 month position with a start date of approximately February 1, a stipend of $635 a week, plus health benefits.  Organizing Fellows will be reimbursed for usage of their automobile.

Additional Qualifications:
We are looking for organizers who seek to continue the work they started with the election of Barack Obama.  Must be ready to work hard, have a commitment to learn organizing and must have some experience in social justice work such as grassroots organizing, campus organizing, community organizing, political organizing or union activism. Must have solid writing, verbal and people skills; must be willing to work weekends and irregular hours. Must have a valid driver’s license and a car is required (organizing fellows will be reimbursed for usage of their car).  Organizing Fellows are responsible for their own housing.
