STAFF REPRESENTATIVE/ORGANIZER
 Open Position: Staff Representative/Organizer- South Bay

Local 21 represents more than 7,500 professional and technical employees working for local governments in Bay Area counties, cities and special districts.  Local 21 members in the areas of engineering, environmental science, information technology, regulation, inspection, accounting, auditing, design, and planning perform work critical to the success of these jurisdictions and the people they serve. The union has a commitment to addressing professional concerns in addition to the traditional labor issues.  We seek to have a positive influence on the missions of the jurisdictions where our members work. 

Always working to improve, changes and accomplishments over the last few years have helped Local 21 to increase significantly in size and strength. This is a new position for the local as a result of significant growth in the South Bay area.

Politically stable internally, we are led by a unified and talented Executive Committee and Delegate Assembly. Staff Representative/Organizer Salary: Up to the high 80's (depending on experience) and an excellent benefit package. 

Location: This is a permanent position in San Jose.  South Bay residency preferred.  

The ideal candidate should have the following qualities:

• Ability to work creatively and strategically with union officers and staff to improve our bargaining, representation and field programs;
• Strong union representation, bargaining and organizing skills;
• Experience in organizational development;
• College degree desired
