NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL OFFICER - METALS & ENGINEERING
The National Office of the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union has a full time vacant position for an experienced Industrial Officer based in our National Office, Melbourne.
The successful applicant will demonstrate capacity to:
- Write reports and develop work plans that provide detailed analysis on prospective growth and organising opportunities. The applicant will need to demonstrate previous examples of work planning which clearly outline aims, objectives, implementation and achievements.
- Develop newsletters, campaign material and company/industry specific information.•
- Develop effective Delegate networks and assist delegates to provide leadership within their workplaces.
- Develop and co-ordinate campaigns in key industries/corporations to assist in the effective implementation of work plans.
- Work in a focused and systematic manner.
- Conduct research on the supply chains (including contract labor) for strategic companies to help build delegate networks, campaigning effectiveness, growth plans and recruitment opportunities.
- Provide industry-specific advice to the State Branches of the AMWU.
- Develop networks with like-unions across Australia and internationally within industries and corporations that operate in the sector e.g. EPMU New Zealand.
The successful applicant will report to the Assistant National Secretary and be required to work closely in a team with other national officials. They would have well developed oral and written communication skills and high level computer skills. A demonstrated commitment to the union movement and an ability to work in a team is essential.
This position requires availability for interstate travel.
