This is a field staff position working with other state and national staff representing the Texas Federation of Teachers and the American Federation of Teachers.  The position involves organizing work with the Texas Federation of Teachers/Professional Educators Group Project and the Northside/AFT Organizing Project.

Salary:            $36,000.00 per year

Location:        San Antonio, Texas

Job Description:       

This is a full-time position for an organizer, recruiter and service representative for the Northside/AFT Organizing Project.  The applicant will be expected to perform field organizing, membership recruitment, leadership identification and training. Northside/AFT Organizing Project is seeking candidates with prior union organizing experience or related experience and who is familiar with identifying local leaders, developing leadership/Building Representative structure and who is capable of moving an organizing campaign forward. 

Qualifications:

1. must be self directed

2. experienced with union activities

3. knowledgeable of public education

4. demonstrate leadership abilities

5. demonstrate good communication and writing skills

6. demonstrate good interpersonal skills
