United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Local 1000, a powerful voice for working men and women, is seeking an Organizer in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to give workers a voice in the workplace. UFCW is one of the most progressive unions leading the fight to build worker power in our workplaces, communities and the political and legislative arenas to insure that workers and their families participate fully in the rewards of the economy they help sustain.

The Organizer will be the Local’s point of contact for all organizing leads coming into the Local by phone, web, social media, text, etc. Organizer will spend significant time online, on the phone, and on video conferencing with organizing leads in an effort to start organizing programs, develop worker committees and shepherd workers through NLRB representation elections. The Organizer will engage non-union workers in food, retail, and service industries primarily through online and digital interaction and potentially through face-to-face meetings. The Organizer should feel equally comfortable approaching workers online on social media and offline at the worksite.

A demonstrated commitment to social justice work is required. This is a full time job with potentially extensive travel requirements, irregular hours and relocation to Dallas-Ft. Worth. Valid driver's license and a car are required. In some circumstances, foreign language skills are required; bilingual English/Spanish and other languages is a plus.

Organizing experience is a plus, but is not mandatory. If you have skills or experience through political, legislative, student activist, social justice, community or other union campaigns that is a plus.

Understanding and comfort with social media, technology, mobile devices, databases, is mandatory.
