Racial Justice Staff Attorney

The Center for Popular Democracy (CPD, c3) and CPD Action (c4) are a national network of 43 community-based organizations in 30 states that build organizing power to transform the local, state and national policy landscape through deep, long-term partnerships with leading community organizing groups and progressive labor unions nationwide.
We seek an experienced and energetic attorney to support our racial justice campaign work with our network of partners. The staff attorney will work closely with our campaign staff and our network of partners to imagine, craft, and support campaigns to win progressive campaigns that further a racial justice agenda with a particular focus on state and local action. The staff attorney will work with affiliates on their existing priorities, and also support our network to craft a national agenda that we move collectively. Issues on which we have worked include just policing, ending mass incarceration, public education, economic justice and housing justice.
A strong candidate will have significant experience developing policy that draws from and responds to the priorities of local communities, and understands how to imagine policy change that supports community-based organizing and engagement. The ideal candidate will have deep alignment with CPD’s theory of change, which focuses on building strong people’s institutions, as a core priority for our social justice movement, and facility moving between institution-building spaces and “movement moments.”
