Early Educators United Overview
Early educators formed New Mexico Early Educators United (EEU) for a simple reason – to create an independent voice for early educators to speak up on state regulations, professional development, and funding that affect their jobs, kids and profession. EEU believes that when we come together, no one stands to benefit more than the children in our care. Through EEU, we bring our experience and wisdom to the forefront in Santa Fe, advocating for our youngest New Mexicans. This is a full-time project-based position to work on organizing campaigns located throughout New Mexico. This project is a joint venture between the American Federation of Teachers and Early Educators United.

Early Educators United is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO. AFT New Mexico represents 23,000 Early Educators, Pre-K-12 and higher education employees in New Mexico.

Overview of responsibilities: Organizer
EEU New Mexico seeks organizers to mobilize, recruit, and develop members to win big for early education throughout the state.
Duties and Responsibilities
Willing and able to work and travel irregular hours (weekend and evenings may be required).
Works well with staff and local leaders to recruit new members and build power
Develops/maintains a good working relationship local and state leaders, members, potential members and all staff
Maintains and produces regular reports as determined by campaign assignments
Implements communication and issue education tactics as required by EEU strategic plan in conjunction with other EEU staff in assigned locals
Works well with local leaders to recruit new members through organizing and training; schedule informal and formal informational meetings and visits with members and potential members in conjunction with local leaders, organizers and other EEU staff
Attends and helps run trainings and meetings as needed.
Maintains accurate financial records/expense reports regarding authorized reimbursements and mileage reports
Experience, Skills, Aptitude and Commitment
Experience in organizing, recruiting or mobilizing people to achieve a goal is preferred
Experienced in identifying and developing leaders
Track record of working professionally, in a team and independently
Ability to conduct assessments, track data and produce work reports
Demonstrated written and verbal competency in Spanish and English preferred
Proficiency in widely used computer programs and technology
