Position: IT/DATA Project Manager
Classification: Full-time, Exempt

Position Summary:
The IT/DATA Project Manager oversees all technology projects for the Union and leads operational and administrative projects to enable executive management guidance.

This role utilizes industry or domain expertise to deliver business value on a repeatable basis to clients. Develop strategic business insights, drives decision-making to help clients succeed by solving problems or producing results. Utilize a broad set of analytical tools or management techniques to improve client business functions. Manages all components of a dynamic team through execution. The right candidate will be creative and resourceful and will utilize traditional and out of the box solutions to achieve superior business outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Estimate, plan and execute a project or effort in a wide range of service offerings, including but not limited to Application Development, Mobility, Strategy and Assessments, etc
  • Leverage best practice project management while working outside documented processes, applying adaptable services that deliver client value
  • Provide functional expertise for the key differentiating processes, products and solutions.
  • Track and mitigate risk to the client, project, and company
  • Drive and manage analytical efforts in areas specific to business function and industry focus.
  • Develop strategic business insights and recommendations for improvements to business functions by partnering with client leads and aligning business priorities
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements to drive efficiency and cost savings
  • Develop and articulate path to success for clients including strategy, scope, staffing, engagement setup and execution
  • Deliver solutions that focus on end-to-end delivery of specific work-streams covering problem structuring and solving, communication of solutions, client engagement and stakeholder management.
  • Manage day-to-day operations with supervisory authority over multiple associates. This includes allocating work, setting associate daily goals, and monitoring production.
  • Responsible for the quality of production work from team and individual associates.
  • Responsible for measuring and analyzing reporting metrics and producing management reporting.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports. Motivate and lead associates by example, effectively communicating individual, team and company objectives to optimize knowledge transfer and maintain corporate informational transparency wherever possible.
  • Identify, implement, and oversee process improvements across department in conjunction with the cross functional teams.
  • Track, manage and report financial project metrics

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years' experience in Consulting and/or Software development
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a project lead or manager in a consulting environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cross industry and functional experience
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting
  • Metrics & Reporting (Project Financial Health, Utilization, etc.)
  • Operational Excellence
  • Project Management in software development and functional efforts
  • Analysis and solving of moderately complex problems
  • Ability to estimate level of effort required to execute a client solution
  • Provide next generation recommendations for process improvements to drive efficiency and cost savings
  • Proven execution at all stages of the project with direct experience as a Business Analyst and Testing Lead
  • Business Process Engineering, Organizational Change Management, Organizational Design

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods (up to four hours at a time) typing.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend and stoop.
  • Employees must recognize that working in the labor movement is tough, demanding work, which sometimes requires working long irregular hours including weekends, nights and holidays that may necessitate over time.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training and/or work-related issues

Relationships:
The Project Manager will interact with employees, Union members, unorganized workers, employers, government officials, the Executive Board members, officers, other staff, staff from other labor organizations and grassroots organizations.
