Temporary Implementation Specialist
Job Development-Upgrade

The Education Fund is a non-profit partnership between SEIU UHW-West and Healthcare Industry Employers; on a mission to accelerate the careers of 90,000 SEIU eligible Healthcare Workers through innovative education and training solutions. We have a bold strategy to transform the Ed Fund and need an experienced leader to play a crucial role in the continuing development, implementation, and evaluation of our key career advancement and higher education programs.

Reporting directly to an Assistant Director of Programs, Program Manager you can be based in Los Angeles.

Plans and coordinates implementation of education and training programs for healthcare workers represented by SEIU UHW-West and other union members who are eligible for Education Fund services.

On any given day, you will develop strong education partner and stakeholder relationships that result in innovative programs that have high impact on healthcare workers careers. You understand the importance of relationship building and connect equally well with employers, union staff, higher education partners and other educational vendors. You are familiar with analyzing program data to drive program improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develops outreach and recruitment plans based on knowledge of employer facilities -- their employees, work culture, union characteristics and the labor-management environment
  • Conducts outreach, recruitment, and enrollment for programs
  • Screens applicants for basic eligibility, collects and analyzes relevant data
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with educational vendors
  • May conduct initial negotiations with educational vendors leading to contracts that will be reviewed and approved by Assistant Director before being submitted for the contract approval process
  • Works with Education Fund staff, vendors/instructors, employers and union representatives to implement training programs, and attend to program logistics
  • Develops recruitment materials, within the guidelines established by management, and subject to review and approval by management
  • Makes presentations with regard to Education Fund programs to targeted workers, managers and educational vendors
  • Maintains required documentation of education and training programs
  • Submits regular written reports and ensures compliance with grant and program requirements and goals
  • Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor to support project implementation

Additional Job Functions

  • May conduct assessments of applicants’ academic readiness and/or computer skills, using standardized assessment tools. May recruit participants for, and facilitate, worker committees set up to promote the work of the Education Fund.

Qualifications and Capabilities

  • Minimum of one year experience planning and implementing educational or training programs preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of basic Microsoft Office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience within a union and/or healthcare environment preferred.
  • Must be committed to working within a labor-management partnership environment.
  • Flexibility regarding schedule and assignments
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to create rapport with a wide variety of members and partners
  • An automobile, California driver’s license and auto insurance are also required.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to drive and move from one site to another for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit at a work station for extended time periods.
  • Occasional ability to lift, carry equipment or packages weighing up to 35 pounds
