Position Responsibilities:
The Assistant to the Executive Director will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Executive Director as well as supporting and helping to manage the board of directors and helping to communicate and manage relationships with donors and funders. Under the Executive Director’s supervision, the Assistant will be responsible for the following duties, among others:

  • Helping the Executive Director with scheduling and travel needs.
  • Communicating with and managing logistics for the Board of Directors
  • Writing letters and reports for funders and donors
  • Potentially assisting with fundraising and development
  • Assistance with coordinating special events and projects
  • You will be asked to draft documents, edit others, and communicate with a variety of internal and external partners including; board of director, funders and coalition partners.

Qualifications: Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to economic justice and the labor movement. Applicant must have experience with Microsoft Office and Google suites programs and be highly organized and a self-starter. Applicant must have an ability to write clearly and concisely and to communicate the program work to funders, board members and others. Applicant must also maintain files in complete and accessible fashion, manage time effectively, handle requests, be very detail oriented and work well with a team. Previous fundraising and/or executive assistant work a plus. Occasional evenings and weekends required.

  • In this role, organization, people skills, and writing ability are essential.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
  • Problem Solving – Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Ability to exercise judgment to solve problems on a case by case situation. Positive, figure-it-out attitude.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, with the ability to lead projects proactively. Demonstrate persistence and ability to overcome obstacles.
  • A commitment to confidentiality.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Preferably 3-5 years in a high level administrative role in a not-for-profit organization. We will consider applicants who are new to the assistant role but demonstrate clear aptitude, as well as candidates who have extensive experience in providing this type of support

Terms of employment: $48,000-$53,000 per year DOE. Full family health & dental benefits (at no premium cost to employee), 401k with 5% employer contribution, generous time off, parking or transit passes. Friendly, team-oriented working environment. Position based in Los Angeles.
