Political Organizer

Job Description
The Political Organizer is responsible for fostering grassroots political activism among MNA members. Travel within the state is required.

This temporary position ending on November 30, 2018 requires extensive outreach to nurses working in collaboration with the Government Affairs Director under the direction of the Associate Executive Director for Professional and Member Relations.

Duties

  • Execute Field Campaigns - Help develop and implement field campaigns to elect candidates who have been endorsed by MNA. Work with local bargaining units to build capacity, schedule actions in the field, and drive volunteer turnout for walks and phone banks. Train member volunteers on messaging and staff field actions.
  • Foster Issue Activism – Support member involvement in endorsed ballot initiatives and coordinate participation in coalition work as appropriate.
  • Reporting – Develop tracking and reporting mechanisms for the duties assigned above. Must meet goals and metrics as established by the political field campaign plan and the MNA strategic plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in political science or related field is required
  • A minimum of two years of demonstrated success in political mobilization and engagement
  • A commitment to the goals and values of the labor movement
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
