Digital Communications and Social Media Fellow

Position Description:
TTD is looking for a dynamic communications fellow who can help us amplify our mission on social media and beyond, as well as provide general communications support to our policy advocacy. The ideal entry-level candidate for this temporary, six month, part-time position is a creative self-starter who has excellent writing skills and a strong work ethic. S/he has professional aspirations in the field of digital or conventional communications, has some experience using social media platforms in a professional setting, and a basic understanding of unions and the labor movement.

In this position you will:

  • Draft, edit, curate, design and post compelling content for TTD’s website and social media channels, including Facebook and Twitter;
  • Track social media and web analytics;
  • Assist TTD’s communications director with website content, other writing and e-blasts;
  • Aggregate news about transportation policy and labor issues;
  • Post daily news clips; and
  • Assist with special projects, including PowerPoints, video editing and research, as needed.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is a recent or soon-to-be college graduate;
  • Has excellent writing skills and experience with social media platforms;
  • Has strong editing and proofreading skills;
  • Can work independently and as part of a team; and
  • Is able to juggle multiple projects at one time and work in a fast-pace environment.
  • Experience with WordPress, Adobe Photoshop or Canva, and Tweetdeck a plus.

Requirements and Compensation:

  • This is a 6-month, temporary, part-time position
  • Monday through Thursday work schedule with Fridays off
  • 32 hours per week
  • $16/hour with employer-paid health care and commuter benefit
  • Based in TTD’s offices in downtown Washington, DC
  • Available in early February
