Position: IT Systems Analyst
Classification: Full-time, Exempt
Location: Los Angeles, CA

Position Summary:
The Systems Analyst is responsible for providing statewide support for organizational systems and users. This position is based in Los Angeles, she/he will provide support (and possibly travel) to other offices. The Systems Analyst is in charge of operational tasks but also has the skill set required to design and oversee special projects. The Systems Analyst will work with the IT Technicians and field staff to ensure that systems are operational and meeting organizational needs. The Systems Analyst should be able to make decisions at his/her level of responsibility, exercise discretion and independent judgement or under general instructions from his/her supervisor.

This organization is growing rapidly and technology services are expanding. This position requires extensive multi-tasking; ability to accomplish things under pressure and with short turn-around times; high level capacity to evaluate and deal with conflicting priorities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison and respond to inquiries from employees and manage the flow of communication and independently resolve problems whenever possible.
  • Evaluate and deploy hardware and software solutions across the organization while maintaining compliance and established Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support and troubleshoot technology issues for field and internal service staff.
  • Perform monitoring and preventative maintenance on key servers, including but not limited to reviewing error logs, system resource monitors, and network performance metrics in order to identify potential issues and take proactive steps. Oversee installing and configuring systems to customize organizational needs.
  • Remote troubleshooting and diagnosis of network connectivity issues.
  • Supervise sub-contractors and coordinates the addition, removal and movement of equipment and data cabling.
  • Assist to design and implement Disaster Recovery procedures.
  • Be responsible for technical design, planning, implementation of the mission critical enterprise systems.
  • Recommend the redesign and configuration of operating systems, network topology, system phones and system applications.
  • Ensure highest level of data security and backup.
  • Manage the deployment and rollout of new Office 365 solutions (emails, productivity applications, collaborative tools, document management and workflow.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on all aspects of the Office 365 tools including user training and keeping IT teams well informed of changes.
  • The candidate will work with the Assistant IT Director on department and organization- wide projects to help further achieve the goals of SEIU-UHW organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of Windows Server (2008/2012/2016) administration experience.
  • 2+ years of solid experience in overall systems and software support and maintenance in a mixed Windows, Mac and iOS environment.
  • Active Directory experience preferable.
  • Experience with Application & OS security including role-based security, anti-virus tools, and malware removal
  • 2+ years of network experience, including maintenance and deployment of wireless access points, switches, and firewalls. Experience with monitoring tools a plus.
  • Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP, SMTP, DHCP, and DNS, NFS).
  • Experience with backup software solutions (Netbackup, AppAssure, or others).
  • Hands on experience with mobile, desktops, servers, and virtualized, and cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Cisco Voice solutions and Cisco Unified Communication Manager a plus.
  • Knowledge of Video Conferencing systems and other AV solutions (Polycom, Cisco).
  • Hands on experience with configuration and deployment of Office 365, Sharepoint Online, Skype for Business, ADFS, and Groups is a plus.
  • Experience authoring and revising technical documentation.
  • Experience with IT asset management processes and solutions.
  • Salesforce and iCloud or other CRM knowledge is a plus.
  • Well organized, detail oriented and excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and handle urgent interruption issues with poise and professionalism.
  • Ability to execute assignments within established timeframes and quality standards.
  • Ability to provide off-hours support if needed.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision as part of a geographically dispersed team.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods (up to four hours at a time) typing.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Employees must recognize that working in the labor movement is tough, demanding work, which sometimes requires working long or irregular hours. Travel may be required.
