Organizing Coordinator
Fast Food Justice

Fast Food Justice, a first of its kind non-profit organization dedicated to a fast food worker and community social justice movement, is launching operations throughout NYC. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Organizer to join our campaign and help build our organization.

The Organizing Coordinator will oversee a team of organizers in a large geographic turf and develop and implement programs to engage thousands of fast food workers across the industry in becoming members and building an organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Organize thousands of fast food workers to build Fast Food Justice;
  • Identify and develop worker leaders;
  • Work with fast food workers and community members around their rights in New York City legislation that affects industry working conditions;
  • Develop and train organizing team to implement program; and
  • Plan and run meetings and actions of workers and community members including know your rights trainings.

Requirements include:

  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice;
  • An in-depth understanding of organizing based on easily proven prior work experience;
  • Four to five years of organizing experience required, including experience leading a team and managing staff;
  • The ability and willingness to travel if needed and to work long hours, including weekend work as needed;
  • Strong and effective verbal communication and presentation skills;
  • Advanced writing and computer skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Experience and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • A car and a valid driver’s license are required; and
  • Fluency in a second language, either Spanish, Bengali or Haitian Creole, preferred.
