Senior Research Analyst

Based in New York City, NY


The Retail, Wholesale & Department Store Union (RWDSU) is seeking a senior research analyst to be based in our offices in New York City to provide research for collective bargaining, contract administration, internal and external organizing, and industry analysis within the Union’s jurisdictional sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct corporate research, including providing a thorough examination of power structure, finances, and vulnerability analysis
  • Conduct industry and political power analysis for strategic targeting and for identifying key industry trends
  • Design and operationalize field research when required, including worker surveys
  • Identify and launch regulatory tactics based on field research or workers’ testimonies
  • Research companies using a wide variety of sources, including publicly available databases, published databases, on-line and internet resources.
  • Capable of locating and interpreting public records, such as legal filings, regulatory records, real estate documents, and political campaign filings
  • Identifies campaign research needs and resources requirements
  • Develop and implement campaign and strategic research strategies and develop appropriate research products
  • Able to juggle multiple research projects at once.

Job Qualifications

  • Have 3- to 5-year work experience conducting corporate research, union experience, a plus
  • Experienced in public records access, financial analysis, and corporate research
  • Solid technical research skills and ability to apply research to identifying strategic organizing campaigns;
  • Strong analytical, writing, computer and interpersonal/organizing skills
  • Ability to effectively manage a workload with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong commitment to progressive social change and fighting for workers’ rights.
